About this site

This site contains information on the Thomas Ray Gledhill ancestors and the Rebecca May Eames ancestors.  There are several different ways to find the person you are looking for.  The main thing to remember is that there is one page for each person so no matter how many links there are to Thomas Gledhill, for example, they will all bring you to the same page.

How to I find who I’m looking for?

  1. Name Index – this is a list of all the names of the people on this site.  It is continually being updated.
  2. Family Tree – this tab found in the top right corner of each individual’s page will show you the individual’s parents and their grandparents etc. in a family tree pedigree chart format.
  3. Links on the left side – under “Home”, “Photo Database” and “Name Index” you will find a list of 4 or 5 names.  These names start with the individual whose page you are viewing (Thomas Ray Gledhill is the default) and give you four paternal generations after that person.  For example Thomas Ray Gledhill will show up on his page, this father Thomas Gledhill will be under him, Edward Gledhill who is Thomas Gledhill’s father will be next followed by William Gledhill who is Edward’s father.  If the page is on a woman, it will still show her father, her father’s father, her father’s father’s father etc.  Some pages may have less than 4 generations simply because we don’t know who the next generation is.
  4. Links on the left side dropdown – when a name in the left navigation bar is clicked it will drop down, giving you a list of things you can view on that individual i.e. Photos, Journal Entries etc.  It will also give you a link to their wife/husband and their children.
  5. Summary – on each individual page there is a summary section that appears first, at the top of each page.  This will tell you the names dates and places of important events such as birth and marriage and will give you links to the individual’s parents, spouse and sometimes child.
  6. Timeline – the timeline found in a column on the left of the page will also give you important names dates and places in a different format.  You will also find other events such as when individuals graduated from college etc.  You will again find links to their parent’s, wife’s and children’s pages.  These will again bring you to the same page as any other link that you find of that same person.

What other Features are on this site?

  1. Each page for each individual contains all the information on that individual that I could find and collect.  Every individual’s page contains a summary of when the person was born, married, died etc.  Some have other features such as photos, books, journal entries, newspapers, audio, census records, documents etc.
  2. Each page has three tabs in the top right corner, “Individual”, “Family Tree”, and “Sources”.  The individual gives the information on the person you are viewing, I explained the family tree above and the last tabs, “Sources”, will list my sources or the places you can find the information that is on the individual’s page.
  3. Photos Database – on certain pages you will find a small box of photos of the individual whose page you are viewing.  If you wish to find photos of someone without having to first find their page, you can go to the “Photo Database” link found on the left navigation bar and search through all the photos found on this site.  You can either search for and individual by choosing their name from the “Display By Name” dropdown box, or you can search for a family or collection by choosing from the “Display By Collection” dropdown box.
  4. Downloading photos – whether you are viewing photos on an individual’s page or viewing photos via the photos database you can download individual photos or a group of photos.  If you wish to only download one photo, simply click on the small thumbnail of that photo from the bottom scroll bar and then click “view full size”.  This will show you the photo in its largest format.  You then left click on the photo and choose “Save image as...” and save it somewhere on your computer.  If you wish to download all of the photos of Thomas Gledhill, for example, without having to click on each photo one at a time, simply either go to his page or choose his name from the “Display By Name” dropdown box from the Photo Database and then click on “Download All Photos” found in the top right corner of the photo view box and this will put all the photos in a compressed, zipped folder which you can then save to your computer.
  5. GEDCOM – On the left navigation bar you will find the link “GEDCOM”.  This contains the GEDCOM files viewable in PAF of different ancestor lines found on this site.
